Join our award-winning Summer Teaching Camp in China and gain international work experience whilst making friends from all over the world. Choose between 3 exciting destinations to plan and lead your own English lessons for a period of 2 or 7 weeks!
No experience or knowledge of Mandarin is necessary, but don’t worry; the Teach English In China team is here to help. We provide training, resources and support to ensure you embark on your summer teaching adventure feeling confident and prepared.
Programme Highlights
We aim to ensure that you embark on your Summer Teaching Placement feeling confident and prepared. To help you quickly find your feet, all of summer placements include support from our team, in addition to the following.
Accommodation
Our Summer Teaching placements include shared accommodation in modern hotels or apartments. Rooms are equipped with all the essentials, including air conditioning and western toilets to make your stay comfortable.
Food
Three meals per day are provided throughout the duration of the of your stay in all three camps. This is usually a mixture of Chinese and western dishes and is provided either at your host school or the hotel you’re staying in.
Visa Support
We provide you with the necessary documents and guidance to help you get the right visa for your placement. We provide a timeline and detailed instructions to make the process as simple as possible well before your departure.
Orientation Day
All Summer Teachers are invited to attend our day-long Orientation Day in London a few weeks before departure. Here you can meet other participants, chat to ex-teachers, and clear up any last minute nerves!
Weekly Allowance
You will receive an allowance of 1200 RMB (approx £140) for the 2-week camp, and of 3600 RMB (approx £420) for the 7-week camp in return for your work. With accommodation and food included, you’ll find this can go a long way whichever city you’re in!
Lesson Plan Library
Upon enrolment onto our Summer Teaching Programme, you’ll receive access to our Member’s Area, which contains a Lesson Plan Library designed to help inspire you with ideas for your lessons.

The Practical Parts
Dates
Our Summer Teaching Placements begin around the start of July. Exact dates from change year to year, so we ask that all participants are available for the whole of July. For longer placements, you must be available throughout July and August.

Visa
All participants must travel to China on an F category visa to take part in the homestay. Teach English In China will provide you with an invitation letter and application guidance. Please note, you are responsible for applying for and covering the cost of your visa.
Eligibility
To be considered for a Summer Teaching Placement with us in China, you must be a student or graduate, holding a UK, Ireland, US, New Zealand, Australia, Canada or EU passport.
You must also be available during July, have good time management skills and have an interest in exploring foreign cultures.
Prices
The price of our teaching placements includes food, accommodation, transport, support and more. It varies depending on the duration of your desired programme, and covers all of the above mentioned services. Payment is made in two instalments; the first upon enrolment, and the second at least 2 monts prior to departure.

You will be responsible for the cost of your return flights to China, the visa application and spending money. As everything is provided during the camp, the amount you choose to take depends on what you plan to do. Please make sure you’re able to do this before applying to the programme.
